Johann Gutenberg-All time Great Personality

Famous personalities are not remembered for the number of inventions made during their lifetime, but for the reach of their inventions and the efficient functioning of their inventions. Though people like Edison, Einstein, Galileo, etc. are remembered for the number of inventions and of course the eventual usage of these inventions, there are certain inventors and scientists like Benjamin Franklin and Johann Gutenberg who are remembered not for the number of inventions they made, but for the reach which their inventions fetched them. For instance, consider the case of Johann Gutenberg who built the first ever printing machine. This was one single invention in the history of the world that would go down into the annals of history. If it was not for Gutenberg, the world would have still read from manuscripts which would have been hard to decipher and hard to read apart from difficulty in large scale productions. Though Gutenberg invented one of the most revered and noteworthy machines ever seen by man, he had to live in abject poverty and dire straits during his final few years of life. It was due to his long term sponsor by the name Fust that Gutenberg had to experience hardship in his last few years before death. Nevertheless, Gutenberg finds a place in my list of all time great personalities!

Galileo Galilei-A renowned Mathematician

Galileo
was one of the most well known figure in Europe during his lifetime. He was a renowned mathematician in his country of origin (Italy) as well as throughout Europe and the world. Though he was not involved in a great number of inventions, the few inventions made by him changed the phase of the world in the coming centuries. One of his most famous inventions was the pendulum clock which was one of its kinds during his days. He did not strain much in designing a pendulum clock of that magnitude. Instead, he tried making his clock in a simple manner, resembling a candle light swinging back and forth when suspended from the ceiling. He apparently got this idea during his masses at the church! His other famous invention included the telescope which helped prove the Copernicus theory that the Sun was at the center of the solar system and the earth revolved around the sun. His telescope was capable of finding out a satellite of Jupiter, identifying the phases of Venus and several other note worthy and commendable achievements in the field of astronomy. His personal life remains a mystery though it is known that he remained unmarried throughout his life but was with a live in relation with a lady through whom he bore three children.

Louis Pasteur-The Personality of the Century

How many times have you drunk milk? Umpteen number of times? Well, how many numbers of times have you choked upon raw milk? Am sure not even once. You got to thank the legendary scientist and microbiologist Louis Pasteur for having made you prevent choking from drinking raw milk! It was this French personality who made the path breaking discovery that milk and other animal products or for that matter any eatable can be disinfected and pasteurized by a special yet simple technique. This method of pasteurization (named after this personality) is followed even today in literally all the places of the world to sterilize milk and other dairy products. He is also credited with making sterilization an essential commodity in surgical equipments and instruments used in surgery. He was ridiculed by almost all the surgeons of his time for having made public the fact that infections spread by means of dirty hands used in surgeries. These revelations even lead to an altercation between Pasteur and a veteran 80 year old surgeon! Nevertheless, Pasteur is still remembered as one of the most respected and note worthy personalities of his era and can even be named as the personality of the century!

Leonardo Da Vinci-The Most Versatile Person

What would the world expect of an illegitimate child? Of course tyranny and an explicit tongue which would make the world around him queer with an uneasy feeling. But all this was just till the day a person named Leonardo Da Vinci was born. Yes, Da Vinci was the illegitimate child of a notary, Piero da Vinci, and a peasant woman, Caterina, at Vinci in the region of Florence. Da Vinci was a mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, botanist, musician and writer. In short, he was a polymath with his interests and talents spread over such a wide domain that he is credited to the title of being one of the most versatile person to have ever lived. With such a wide talent base, he was such a mystery to the world around him that he was said to have something superhuman about him. Things about him were a mystery. From the first prototype of a car to the first flying machine, he was the creator of almost all modern day inventions. The only force which withheld him from implementing all these prototypes was perhaps the fact that his life span was too short for all these things to take shape. 67years is indeed a short time for a man of his stature!
