Major Carburetor Repair

This adjustment is made only after major carburetor repair. A typical procedure follows.
  1. With limiter caps off or steel plugs removed, turn the idle-mixture screws in until they lightly touch the seats. Then back them out two full turns.
  2. Adjust the idle speed as described above.
  3. Connect an exhaust-gas analyzer to the exhaust system. With the engine idling at normal operating temperature, adjust the idle at the specified rpm. The carbon-monoxide reading must be below the specified allowable maximum. The automatic transmission or transaxle should be in DRIVE. A manual transmission or transaxle should be in NEUTRAL
