Chronic infection

The chronic infection of the stomach with microorganism helicobacter pylori is found in large majority of ulcers. Ulcer precipitated by aspirin, NSA IDs, corticosteroids, and stress. Aggravated by alcohol, condiments, chillies, coffee, smoking. Gnawing pain before or a couple of hours after food or at night. There are some main dangers such as some ulcers may become malignant, perforation of the ulcer. Antibiotics like amoxicillin in high doses, anti-secretory drugs to reduce hydrochloric acid are some of the treatments for ulcer. It can be prevented by avoiding smoking, aspirin, stress, alcohol, coffee and other aggravating and precipitating factors. Milk, once a mainstay of treatment, has no place in the management of peptic ulcer.
