Charlie Chaplin, one of the most famous actors as well as a notable filmmaker, composer and a musician, who was the best entertainer in the classic era of cinema. He was born in 1889 and had a miserable childhood as his parents separated when he was 3. He started his career as a junior artist and made his first film appearance in 1914. His tramp costume evoked great response from audience. Later he was entrusted with direction and made 34 silent movies. He then made some masterpieces like “The Kid”, “The Circus”, “Modern Times”, etc., with an indirect theme of communism. One of his movies “The Great Dictator” which directly mocked Hitler and his principles, evoked responses across Europe. His notable work “The City Lights” is still considered as a masterpiece and is always placed as one of the best movies of 20th century.
