Galileo Galilei-A renowned Mathematician

Galileo
was one of the most well known figure in Europe during his lifetime. He was a renowned mathematician in his country of origin (Italy) as well as throughout Europe and the world. Though he was not involved in a great number of inventions, the few inventions made by him changed the phase of the world in the coming centuries. One of his most famous inventions was the pendulum clock which was one of its kinds during his days. He did not strain much in designing a pendulum clock of that magnitude. Instead, he tried making his clock in a simple manner, resembling a candle light swinging back and forth when suspended from the ceiling. He apparently got this idea during his masses at the church! His other famous invention included the telescope which helped prove the Copernicus theory that the Sun was at the center of the solar system and the earth revolved around the sun. His telescope was capable of finding out a satellite of Jupiter, identifying the phases of Venus and several other note worthy and commendable achievements in the field of astronomy. His personal life remains a mystery though it is known that he remained unmarried throughout his life but was with a live in relation with a lady through whom he bore three children.
